MANIFESTO—

‘all my life—so far—
I have loved best
how the flowers rise’

—Mary Oliver

Moonflower
By Annika Hein

The flowers are rising.

I love this image of the flowers rising up to revolt against evil. Of such delicate beauties taking a stand in the face of a broken system. And claiming their moment in the sun.

‘I believe that we, that this planet, hasn't seen its Golden Age,’ writes Patti Smith. ‘Everybody says its finished ... art's finished, rock and roll is dead, God is dead. Fuck that! This is my chance in the world … I'm right here right now and I want now to be the Golden Age.’

In Australia and all across the world right now, systems are crumbling. The environmental forecasts of climate change scientists exist now not in the present tense, but in the past. War rages upon nations, just as war is being waged upon our planet.

It is easy to feel burdened by the weight of it all, at times. To feel helpless in the face of such colossal forces—many of them thousands of miles away. But, just as the flowers rise to sprout wild and free through the cracks, so can light weave its way throughout the darkness. And this is a hopeful moment.

So, with that in mind, we have decided to relaunch JANE’s online platform as a safe space for you, dear reader. As a private community that furthers our fine art movement and fosters the voices that keep flowering on.

Poetry, film photography, and long form essays all co-exist in this space, alongside beautiful fashion stories, artist interviews, and collaborations with selected partners that are creating really special work. Each month, we will be sharing a curation of content under a unifying theme, as well as a collection of community resources that are designed to nurture the creative process.

Because this is our Golden Age. And this month, for our inaugural Chapter One, it is all about turning toward the things that grow together in harmony with radical hope.

Like the Full Rose Moon, a Super Moon in Sagittarius that Srnaverse shares her insights on for Chapter One. Like the N°1 de CHANEL range that is rooted in sustainability and natural ingredients. Or like Cheryl HumphreysSpectral Meditations for Healing—an experiential guide for using all seven colours of the visible spectrum as visual aids for meditation. And a book that Cheryl has kindly provided an excerpt from, especially for JANE PRIVÉE readers to rise and shine with.

‘If only each generation would realise that the time for greatness is right now when they're alive,’ Patti Smith offers by way of reminder.

The time to flower is now.’
